Welcome to Handebezyo

Handebezyo was a hub for community activity a long time ago. As the highest hill on Ukerewe, it was easy to navigate to, even amongst the trees that were on the mountain long ago.

The bank was located in a cave.

Savings were placed in jars and then hidden in the cave. The came was garded by the chief (mtemi) If anyone would steal from the jars, they would be under a lasting curse.
